Just to give myself some more to post on here, I'll put up a random video I like each week. Starting with a Death Note amv:

Christian Patriarchy Movement
“Daughters aren’t to be independent. They’re not to act outside the scope of their father. As long as they’re under the authority of their fathers, fathers have the ability to nullify or not the oaths and the vows. Daughters can’t just go out independently and say, ‘I’m going to marry whoever I want.’ No. The father has the ability to say, ‘No, I’m sorry, that has to be approved by me.’”http://www.alternet.org/reproductivejustice/149022/creepy_christian_patriarchy_movement_shackles_daughters_to_their_fathers_and_homes?page=1
What the hell? So this is apparently becoming a major thing among fundamentalist Christians. Which, unfortunately make up a large portion of the US.
Now, I have nothing against being the submissive partner in a relationship. If that's the role that fits you best and you enjoy it, by all means go for it. Hell, I'll probably be the submissive partner in any relationship I get into. But to simply tell your daughter from day one, that she is nothing but a servant is just plain fucked up. To keep her stuck and completely dependent on others is ruining any potential she may have and just throwing away any talents that she may possess outside of the home.
Though of course people like this will argue that a woman that shows signs of ambition is simply being greedy. And of course, an anti-family feminist. From my point of view, if servitude equals traditional family, then you're damn right they should be anti-family.
A few other parts of the article I found interesting:
(“He leads her, woos her, and wins her with a tenderness and affection unique to the bonds of father and daughter.”)Please tell me I'm not the only one that finds that creepy.
Elsewhere, they quote a document from the pro-patriarchy website Fathers for Life that states that the “prime purposes of feminism are to establish a lesbian-socialist republic and to dismantle the family unit,” echoing Pat Robertson’s notorious statement that feminism is a “socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians.”I would love it if one of these people had a daughter that did turn out to be a lesbian, wiccan, socialist. Just so I could laugh at them.

Yeah well, fuck you too, UN.
For those that don't know, the UN General Assembly resolution is voted on and passed every two years. This resolution is to help insure human rights are protected. The last time it was renewed it included language, condemning the execution of GLBT people just for being gay/lesbian, bi and/or transgendered. A bill that was introduced by Uganda (one of those countries that outlaws the "gay lifestyle"), passed. What was the bill you ask? To remove any mention of GLBT people. So the UN will no longer officially condemn executions of GLBT people. What's next, having Saudi Arabia vote on womens issues.
Oh, wait. That is happening. The UN recently created an agency to handle women's issues world wide. And, of course, Saudi Arabia is among the members of this board. Though, you'll be happy to know that Iran was rejected. Instead they went with the country that was even worse than Iran, in this regard. So, according to UN logic, the rights of specific groups of people should be voted on by the nations that screw over that group the most. Seriously UN, what the hell?

Reason for making this blog: Honestly, it was mainly just to have a place to update the status of my stories. Thus forcing me to actually work on them rather than getting distrac... of look, something shiny. I'll also talk about various news topics that pique my interest and about GLBT issues (since I'm a transgendered bisexual, they kinda affect me). Also, I going to have a weekly comic called, The Wide World of Humanity, in which I poke fun at people.
Finally, in case anyone is curious, the title of the blog is actually a reference to an old cartoon called, The Angry Beavers. One of the shows that Norbert would watch on tv was called, Things that are Almost Interesting.
